Creation Care
Sheldon Road Church is committed to do all we can to care for God’s Creation in our worship, lifestyle and engagement with our community. We include this commitment in our church vision: Caring for the whole of God’s creation so that it thrives now and into future generations. We are part of A Rocha UK’s Eco Church programme, and we are currently working towards the Gold Award.

Women learning how to fight climate change: In Pakistan, the climate crisis is pushing families like 41-year-old Seeta’s deeper into poverty. Her husband Taria’s, farming income was irregular and insufficient, plunging them into constant financial worry. He benefited from Tearfund training, and asked if there were training opportunities for his wife as well. Seeta attended a Tearfund-sponsored hands-on training at a women-led nursery, growing fruit trees for food and animal feed. Seeta learnt vital skills in seed selection, sapling care and how to set up a nursery. But the training provided her with more than just technical knowledge. She says “I have become more confident and I'm earning an income... It has changed our family's lives. ‘I now grow and sell tree plants every day,’ Seeta says. Six months on from her training, she grows and sells 10-15 saplings a day, earning a daily income of 450 to 675 Pakistani Rupees [£1.20-£1.80]. They now have enough to pay for their family’s needs. www.tearfund.org |
